چکیده

Objectives: Minimal invasive repair of pectus excavatum (MIRPE) described by Nuss is the most popular correction nowadays this deformity. During introduction bars, they can hurt or compress internal mammary arteries (IMA). The aim study was to observe prevalence IMA compression in children after MIRPE. Also, we examined if obstruction increases risk complications at bar removal, and these vascular changes are reversible. Materials Methods: All patients operated on our tertiary pediatric surgical center between 2013 2019 were involved study. Data age, sex, number bars characteristics deformity examined. flow checked Doppler ultrasound (DUS) MIRPE too. Results: Among 41 with mean age 15.2 years there 18 asymmetrical deformities, 23 sternal rotations. Mean index 4.01. After procedure 7(9%) stenoses 10(12%) occlusions found DUS. removal 3 4 have resolved, but all (3/3) persisted. There no during removals. Conclusion: uncommon, not influenced severity Obstruction vessels does increase hemorrhagic removal. larger cohort needed determine reversibility changes.

Trace metal release after minimally-invasive repair of pectus excavatum

BACKGROUND Several studies have shown a high incidence of metal allergy after minimally-invasive repair of pectus excavatum (MIRPE). We postulated that MIRPE is associated with a significant release of trace metal ions, possibly causing the allergic symptoms. METHODS We evaluated the concentration with chromium, cobalt and nickel in blood, urine and tissue in patients prior to MIRPE and in pa...

We implanted a single bar in each case, to reduce the amount of permanent prosthetic material in these young patients. In the first case, we obtained excellent results, whereas in the second case, although the initial results were satisfying, a delayed rupture of the bar occurred. The rupture occurred on the left edge, at a point of minor resistance of the system (the joint), where the clip is ...
